WhereverMovies has announced rights to Not Taken for production as a feature film are open for bid.
Building on the characters and story from the book, Not Taken, by bestselling author Terry Ulick, Not Taken is a wide-market property with appeal to women and men, authored with a movie production perspective.
Featuring strong, John Wick-level action leads, they are a mother and daughter who come from a family of traffickers in the Ukraine. Hiding from the world of trafficking and living in America in a trailer park, they unexpectedly inherit a fortune from their family — but it’s all from trafficking income.
Deciding to use the more than a billion dollars made from making sex slaves of underage girls, they decide to use it to stop sex trafficking of minors and young women.
But, Cindy, the mother who grew up in the dark world of trafficking, knows donating money to charities is pointless. All the money donated to-date hasn’t slowed the trafficking, She knows that only way to stop trafficking is to stop the traffickers. Far from donating to causes, they take direct action to kill traffickers, the only way they know to stop them as governments, national security agencies, and the very rich protect traffickers. As the child of the most successful trafficker in the world, she knows they are all clients and part of trafficking.
Cindy and her daughter Angie, arm-up, jet-out, and packing more weapons than a swat team do what no government or do-gooders have ever done: Kill traffickers. They know it’s the only way. They also know their trail of dead traffickers sends a message to all traffickers that soon the helpless pretty little thing they just snatched will be the last thing they ever see.
"This is a must-see movie for two reasons" says Terry Ulick, author and executive producer of Not Taken, "It's a “movie” movie… a pure action thriller in the tradition of John Wick and Taken, but with female leads who are stunning to see, and deadly to encounter. It's a thrill ride from start to finish, and not focused on politics or crusades. Second, beneath the mayhem of their AR-15s blazing it tells a story all must know. Trafficking takes place at all income levels, and it’s not limited to the poor or immigrants. The most valued ”takes” are young girls from wealthy and middle-class families. Trafficking children has become a larger industry than drug sales. Millions of children are trafficked for sex each year. My book, and this film, shows how it happens, and it’s not being stopped. It's a cautionary tale while being an empowerment story for women.
I love the female leads. In this stunning story, Cindy, raped by her own trafficker father when twelve, is the iconic woman. She does what every woman would do for her family, and she’s a stunner every man would dream of having as his love.
Cindy and Angie, from trailer park, rise to heroic heights and are stunning in every way."
Developed as a book and movie package, Not Taken is now open for bid.
